Everyone flew in to the Madrid airport on Saturday morning. From there, we took a bus to Valladolid. Once we arrived in Valladolid, all of the families were outside waiting for us. Carolina, from the University of Valladolid, came on the bus and introduced each student to their "family." We got to Valladolid around 2:00, just in time for comida (lunch). So everyone went home with their families, ate lunch, and took a siesta.
Sunday we met in the evening and walked around the city. We met at Plaza de Zorrilla and walked through the Campo Grande park. The highlight of this park are the wild peacocks! After that we walked through the city. Here are pictures of some of Valladolid's most famous buildings including the Cathedral built in the 17th century on top of the 13th century ruins of the old Collegiate Church, the Santa Cruz Palace, the Santa Maria la Angustia- a 14th century Gothic church, the Church of San Pablo, with a beautiful Gothic main facade, and finally the original University of Valladolid building, built in the 15th century.
